Robotic Application in Medical Science

 

Robots are very important elements and it is very much critical to the medical field where extreme accuracy and delicacy is necessary, and minimizes the error slim. In 1985 a robot named PUMA 560 was first used for the surgery of brain biopsy and it was developed by the Imperial College in London.

Major application of robot in medical science that is given below .Application of robot in medical science can be three types.

SURGERY:
Because robots are efficiently perform the major operations that give the greater benefits to patients .the patients usually get benefit such as lessen pain, infection and the time of healing time is lessened. Besides robot will perform operation accurately and it gives the best output .it has the ability to take quick action while executing operation. Robots can also execute heart surgery smoothly without opening patient’s chests. There are lot of general surgical procedures which is complicated and need to perform accurately. For this reason robotic technology is used for smother operation. For the surgery like Cardiothoracic, Cardiology, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics Gynecologic Oncology where accuracy and risk is to be maintained then robotics technology will be applied for operation. Pediatric robotics technology can be used for children hospital .Surgeon use small robot to perform operation that give less pain to the patients. In 2001 Boston children hospital first introduces the robot for surgical purpose. For every surgical robot there will be programmable computer that will maintain the robot activities

EDUCATION:

Robots are now using in the academic area of medical science, medical student are now using it for the purpose of testing for pregnant humanoid robots. Different robots are used in academic to show the exact experiments result accurately. Robot can show the output easily. For example pregnant humanoid robots use to show and prepare the possible birth complication. Different experiments can be performed by the robot.

ADMINISTRATION:
Robot can also be used to perform hospital activities such as shorter visiting time. Hospitals run procedures. Robot can perform risky job in hospital in shorter time with accuracy. Hospital management will be easier by using robot.

For application of robot in the medical science, there will be some limitation of robot application. Use of robot may cost huge expenses. It some times cost higher to acquire the robot. Robot is operated by the operation by the trained professional .so trained professional is needed to guide the robot to perform the task. Another drawback of robot application is acceptances by the patient and doctors because both are not habituated by the operation by the robot.
